Ashby 20 – 2024 – Report
Possibly sole MAC at the 2024 edition of the famous 20 mile race at Ashby de la Zouch. We started on a bit of a wet and rainy day, I was supporting my other half (Sarah) on her first attempt at the distance.
This was my second time at Ashby and it still doesnt get any easier with the continous ups and downs throughout the course. I think the hardest part of Ashby is that it is two laps and messes with your head a little bit. The first lap flew by relatively quickly, we managed to get through in good time without stopping or walking but then on the second lap, the sun came out, it got that bit warmer and the hills seemed to get that bit steeper on tired legs. The last 5km seemed the hardest but we pushed on best we could to try keep up momentum at least to finish in 3:42.38 (position 998). No PB for me, but it wasnt my race, a fanatastic time for Sarah on her first attempt 🙂
First Male back was Jack Dakin from Derby AC in a time of 1:52.22 and first Lady was Amy Lowe from Washlands Womans Runners in 2:11.06
