Clowne Half Marathon:
Four MACs embraced the early 9AM start today to head over to the furthest reaches of North East Derbyshire to run the Clowne Half Marathon.
The route quickly leaves the fine architecture and leafy boulevards of Clowne town centre and loops around some actually very picturesque villages including Whaley and Elmton. The first half steadily rolls by, with just a few bumpy bits along the way, with the main climb coming at 8 miles, you know, just when you’re really feeling in the groove and not flagging at all. But with a quick final 5K you’re soon back to the finish and the adoring crowds.
All four MAC representatives battled through the blustery conditions to get back just in time for ‘elevenses’ at the finish. We were duly rewarded with the brightest orange hoodies ever produced. Just in time for the Christmas fancy dress run where we will all be coming as one of the infamous A6 roadwork traffic cones.
