Parkrun

Parkrun news Saturday 13 April 2024
20 Members partook in parkrun last Saturday spread very far and wide across 11 venues. Chris Rouse continued his mini touristing at Abbey park Leicester with a comfortable 25.10 for 73rd place. Family Lloyd became proper tourists adding Alstervorland parkrun in Hamburg to our growing list of MAC completed events. Oliver took family honours in 8th position and a super 21.24. Mike was 21 places behind in 25.37 followed quite closely by Jo in 26.33 for 34th position. Back in Derbyshire at Alvaston parkrun Tinofara Chiku had a great run finishing in 19.53 and 10th place whilst also staying local Gav Elliott and Andrew Watson had steady runs around the often soggy course that is Ashbourne Memorial Gardens parkrun. Beccy and Rob ventured a little further South (not much) to Conkers in Leicestershire where Beccy took the ladies first finisher in a cracking 22.50 with Rob not so far adrift in a respectable 25.12. Rupert Holden was discovered right down South West at Exmouth parkrun running a pretty good 21.35 for 43rd place whilst Jay Bird was taken but not sent to Coventry for Holbrooks parkrun and a 25.26 and 15th place finish. This is obviously a small event! Proper UK touristing was duly performed by Roy Austin visiting the very scenic Kings Lynn parkrun where he recorded a nice 24.02 and 97th place finish.
At our local Monsal Trail parkrun this weeks MAC honours were taken by Darren Spibey with a superquick 19.08 for 9th place and an age grading of 74.13% to boot! Rob Scriven finally managed to break loose from the bar stool with a respectable 23.34 for 56th place. Our usual trio of volunteers, Andy, Sarah and Sarah kept good order as usual. Penultimately Captain Greg did some serious speed training with a 16.34 performance and first finisher at Rother Valley whilst Megan also showed a good turn of pace with a 21.08 and 31st position finish. Finally, Dennis Holmes was off touristing at the University of Northampton to collect his 2nd “U” and complete his second alphabet! He also enjoyed his new V60 status and improved age grading although he is still 5% short of the 70% required to get him amongst our MAC elite athletes.
