Parkrun Saturday 3rd February 2024. Despite glorious running weather numbers were down again this week with only 14 MAC’s being tracked down to parkrun results so far. Starting off at Alvaston parkrun, Beccy Curtis-Hall demonstrated consistency and improvement (slight) in finishing 5 seconds faster than last week in a swift 22.44 for 52nd position with Rob a couple of minutes behind in 24.36 for 86th place. Just down the A38 at Battlestead Croft near Burton, Lisa Walton had a good run on the all grass surface finishing in 32.08 for 73rd with Dennis Holmes one place and one second behind her. Also sticking close to home, Simon and Louise chose Brierley Forest where Simon came in 5th in 19.53 and Louise 54th and 4th lady in 25.24. Not close to home but at the home of parkrun, Bushy park in South West London, Sarah Walton volunteered for bar code scanning which could have been quite a long job with 1,675 finishers today! I am sure there must be a reason for this next bit of news but Luke Beresford ran at Colwick park parkrun today and did not finish first! He actually is recorded as in 22nd position in a time of 22.13. I am hoping that he is saving his legs for another run today or that he had a great session on the beer last night, both equally valid excuses for running “slowly”. Almost finally, Roy and Chris, our other regular parkrun tourists were to be found today revisiting Frickley Country park parkrun which is in Elmsall, West Yorkshire and is generally cold, windy and hilly. Due to some works on the course the main zig zag hill was avoided today but I still recollect it not to be a PB course so Roy showed decent pace finishing in 24.48 and 27th position whilst Chris just needs to work harder to catch Roy!. Finally at our local parkrun, Monsal Trail, the MAC performance of the day was provided by Logan Fairey who finished 4th in 18.32 and an age grading score of 76.53%!! In a tight pack behind Logan was to be found 3 other MAC’s lead in by Karl Webster in a tidy 21.54, 19th place, then Andrew Watson in 22.17, 22nd place and finally Megan Hopkinson in 22.37 for 24th overall and 3rd lady. Well run all.
