On Sunday it was the Lambs Longer Leg, an AS Fell Race over 3 miles and 1’001 feet. Based at the Lamb Inn on the road between Chinley and Hayfield the race starts 800yds down the road towards Chinley. The route heads, initially on a rough uphill track, towards Mount Famine and South Head but does not actually reach the summits but instead sends runners into and out of the very pathless, tough and tussocky Dimpus Clough. A bit of respite along a bridleway below South Head before a fast descent to the finish behind the Lamb Inn.
Only 56 runners on the day, this was probably due to old school pre entry via the postal system.
The race was won by MAC’s Joe Oldfield in 26:19. The first lady was Joanne Mosley 10th o/a in 33:47. Other MAC results:
3rd Kieran Allanson 29:04
9th Bob Foreman 33:46 1st M60
21st Gemma Cox 38:25
A great little race which I found especially tough after XC the day before. Well organised by Brian Shelmerdine and thanks go to him and his helpers. Send one less Christmas Card next year and use the stamp for entry into this New Year Cracker!
