parkrun report for Saturday 6 April 2024
18 members were out at 9 different parkrun locations last Saturday, the numbers perhaps lowered slightly by the Lads Leap fell race taking place quite locally. In alphabetical order of location, Tom Palfreyman chose the scenic trail of Brierley Forest where he finished in a time of 22.50 for 16th place. Quite a distance away but local to “old” MAC member John Birch is Blicking parkrun in Norfolk where he was not surprisingly sole MAC finishing in 25.38 and 64the position. Down in North London, David Howarth added Gladstone parkrun to the list of parkruns completed by our members finishing in 26.37 and 75th place. Undeterred by the midday start of the English National Championship Lads Leap Fell Race, Luke Beresford chose Glossop parkrun for his “steady” 5k warm up taking first finisher in a leisurely (for Luke) 19.56. Off touristing yet again Lisa and Dennis set off at 4am for the early flight to Dublin to run Malahide parkrun not expecting storm Kathleen to intervene later in the day and turn the planned 12 hour daytrip into a 3 day affair courtesy of Ryanair. The parkrun is lovely and there are far worse places to be stranded for 2 extra nights than Temple Bar Dublin. Gav Elliott was sole MAC at Markeaton park again and the full squad turned out at Monsal Trail led in by Ian Watson in an impressive time of 18.27 (2nd place) followed in by Casper Reynolds in an equally impressive 19.30 (6th place), both athletes recording over 70% age grade scores. Two futher MAC soloists were Nick Gant at Pavillion gardens in 21.41 for 24th place and Roy Austin at the rather hilly Rotherham parkrun finishing in 25.13 and 28th position. Well run both.
