Parkrun

Todays parkrun write up follows: For a second consecutive Saturday Matlock AC fielded an impressive squad of parkrunners largely owing to the turnout of the complete family Jones at Poolsbrook parkrun. Jacob continues to outpace Gary although the margins are slim.
No fewer than 13 MACS ran or volunteered at the home parkrun, Monsal Trail, where Harry Holmes led the team home once more in 2nd place in 16.46 thereby scoring a 77.53% age grading. Other notable performances saw members young and old occupying places in the top 25 with Mark Moriaty recording a fantastic 21.25 and 21st place with a 72.37% age grading.
More for the purists among you, Sarah Witham recorded something quite exceptional today at Monsal. A groundhog day!! I think this could be unique as it was achived with about a months interval between the 2 runs!
The other star performer of the day at Milton Country parkrun was Christine Howard whose 23.55 time gave her Matlocks third over 70% age grading result.
Nearer to home at Alvaston parkrun one of Matlock’s newer and younger members Tinofara Chiku set himself a new PB with 19.36 and 25th position whilst Matt Govan was also recording a great time of 21.40 for 11th place at the slightly more undulating Brierley Forest parkrun.
At the opposite end of the speed register, Roy Austin claiming injury, probably got himself his all time lowest finish position of 533rd at Endcliffe parkrun. This was a parkwalk so he also bagged a volunteer credit!
Finally, at Rothwell parkrun which is just to the South of Leeds, the greatest achievement of Jay Bird was eating 2 breakfasts in the cafe straight after the run whilst Dennis Holmes tried to match him with the largest piece of carrot cake that could be purchased.
