Maybe its because you are all saving yourselves for tomorrows Derby Runner Cross Country at Bramcote Park but I have only found 13 runners and 2 volunteers spread across 8 parkrun venues this Saturday. Lisa, Louise and Simon were all very predictable sticking to Alvaston and Ashbourne for their regular dose of parkrun, whilst Roy was much more imaginative in finally hunting down a brand new parkrun at Wednesbury in the West Midlands named Brunswick Park parkrun and thereby getting his Wilson Index number 1. Congratulations Roy!. More of a homecoming than touristing, Beccy and Rob were right down South at Eastbourne parkrun where they had a gentle stroll out presumably finishing hand in hand as they crossed the finish line together in 27.03.
Much closer to home in Nottinghamshire at the rather undulating Gedling parkrun, Luke ran an impressive 17.13 for first finisher whilst Jay Bird, allegedly saving himself for the afternoons North Midlands XC, ran a respectable 25.36 for 48th place.
Sticking relatively close to home and celebrating his 100th parkrun at Graves park in Sheffield, Greg bagged a 3rd place with a gentle, for him, 20.43. Also to be found at Graves park but not quite so far up the field was Chris Rouse in 29.59 for 131st position.
Probably due to it being a Whitworth Thread week, Monsal trail attracted only 2 runners and 2 volunteers this week. Mark Moriaty continues his excellent form with a 21.19, 16th place finish whilst David Davidson recorded 26.43 for 84th place.
Our final athlete this week was Dennis Holmes who at Netley Abbey parkrun was robbed of a sub 25 minute finish by some poor time keeping and will be appealing to the VAR referee that his 25.14 was in fact a 24.45 on his chronometer.
It does not really matter though because as we all know, everyone that takes part is a winner! Happy parkrunning.
